WHAT IS IT? The AP in 3 Film Challenge is a fun and potentially sleepless 48 hours of filmmaking in which you pretty much make a 3 minute movie - write, shoot, edit and score it - in just 48 hours. On Friday night, you get a prop, a line of dialog and choose a genre, all to include in your movie. Sunday night, the movie must be complete and it’s shown to an audience at Asbury Park’s premier movie theater: The ShowRoom. Volunteer Teams will have 48 hours - starting Friday September 23 at 5PM and returning a finished 3 minute film by Sunday, September 25 at 5PM. Other than forming your team and finding your actors, selecting your equipment and securing shooting locations: All Actual Productions from Scripting to Post Production MUST BE completed during the film challenge period September 23 - 25, 2011. So, what’s the movie about that you’re challenged to make? Pretty simple: Make a film that reflects the theme: |

OFFICIAL RULES: 1. To be eligible, entries must be the original work of the entrant; must not infringe on any third-party's rights; must be suitable for publication (i.e., may not be obscene or indecent); must not contain obscene or pornographic material; may not contain defamatory statements about any person, company, organization or entity; may not invade privacy or other rights of any person, company or entity; may not in any other way violate applicable laws and regulations; and may not contain any copyrighted elements. Entries containing prohibited or inappropriate content as determined by the AP in 3 Film Challenge, in its sole discretion, to be inappropriate will be disqualified. AP in 3 Film Challenge reserves the right to make the final determination as to which entries are eligible. 1A. All teams must pick up their production packets at The ShowRoom on Friday, September 23rd at 4PM. At that time, each team will be given the opportunity to choose a genre their film will follow. 2. All films must contain a given line of dialog and a prop that will be enclosed in the entry packet. The line of dialog must appear in its entirety, unchanged from how it is written. The prop must become an integral part of the film, and not simply shot and inserted as an "add-on" (i.e - should not be the background for the credits or an end frame). 3. Music: Participating team must have the rights to any copyrighted music used in its film. 4. The finished film cannot be any longer than 3 minutes. 5. Credits at the end of each film are limited to a maximum of 20 seconds. This is in addition to the 3 minute maximum time limit. (For example, you may have a 3 minute film plus 20 seconds of credits for a total running time of 3 minutes and 20 seconds.) Films any longer than 3:20:00 are not eligible. 6. The AP in 3 logo needs to be displayed at either the beginning or end of the film. It can be found here. 7. The finished film/video must be submitted on DVD, or a self-contained Quicktime file with no proprietary codecs on either: a data DVD, or a USB flash drive. 8. No entries will be returned. 9. All films must be delivered to the ShowRoom by 4PM Sunday, September 25. 10. The AP in 3 Film Challenge organizers reserve the right to amend these rules up until the festival. |

| What if I don't have a piece of equipment like a camera or editing gear? The AP in 3 Challenge is meant to be a collaborative effort between creative people in various disciplines. If you don't have a camera, but have an idea, team up with someone with a camera and execute the idea together. Video is a team effort. Team up and have fun. Can I make a video with a Flip camera or iPhone? Sure. As long as you deliver it to us on a DVD, we'd be excited to see what you can do with an iPhone. |
